Psychotherapy is the most promising method, but it is extremely difficult to establish because of the dramatic skepticism of patients with this condition. Most people require constant therapy because they will experience predominant symptoms of the disorder for their entire life.

For many people who suffer from schizoid personality disorder, they have many hallucinations, and their memories become infected. They can believe that something happened when it did not.
"At 8pm., patient had episode of severe auditory hallucinations coupled with intense psychomotor agitation: She was writhing, forcefully grimacing, holding her hands to her ears, shaking her feet repeatedly, and seemed nearly oblivious to external stimuli. This episode lasted about ten minutes. After it subsided, she was initially guarded about what happened, but later did admit to auditory hallucinations, and to feeling that she must 'fight' the voices when they occur, and that discussing them makes them more difficult to 'fight'".
When Lori was attmitted to the short term hospital for the first time she had many full blown episodes of destroying things becuase she could not control the Voices in her head. She had to have a nurse constantly at her side to monitor her. The nusre notices that she is extremly tramatized by her Voices, and when she tries to get Lori to talk to her about them, Lori claims that they would kill her if she did.
People suffering from this disease believe that no one can help them and they feel ashamed of themselves for thinking certain thoughts and try to repress the voices in order to forget them.

Scene Four: In this scene Alex insists on seeing Dan after he won't return her phone calls. He agrees to met her and while they are walking into the subway she tells him that she loves him and is pregnant. She tells him that she thought he would want to be with her now because she is pregnant with his child. This is an example of BPD because she has unstable and intense relationships. She had only met Dan a few times and insists that she is in love with him.
Analysis: The movie Fatal Attraction did a good job in representing Borderline Personality Disorder. One of the main characters, Alex Forrest, has the symptoms of BPD. She is impulsive, self damaging, has intense anger and problems controlling it. She has unstable relationships and goes from loving the other person to hating them quickly. BPD is a serious disorder and should be treated with therapy.

Medications are not generally recommended, but are sometimes used for short term treatment of extreme anxiety states associated with the disorder.
The best treatment is psychotherapy, but is the most difficult to attain. Mainly due to the lack of trust and no desire for close relationships. However, once the therapist-client relationship develops, the patient can start to reveal imaginary friendships and terrors of dependency. Group therapy is also good, but the patients may initially withdraw from the therapy group.

Scene Three: When Dan tries to leave Alex's apartment she tells him that she is sorry she got mad at him and starts kissing him. He notices blood and realizes that she slit both her wrists. He takes her to the sink and runs into her bedroom grabbing a cloth and tearing it so that he can wrap her bleeding wrists up. Instead of leaving like he planned he stays the night because he is worried that she will try to kill herself again. This is a symptom of BPD because she slit her wrists to make him stay with her.

In the movie they show the symptoms very well. During one of the scenes Alex goes from telling Dan she loves him to telling him that she hates him and wants him to leave. This is a symptom of BPD because it shows the unstable relationship she has with Dan. Another one of Alex's symptoms was self mutilation because she slit her wrists after Dan tried to leave to make she he wouldn't leave her that night. I believe that the movie represents BPD accurately because it shows many of the symptoms of the disorder and what can happen if you don't get help. Fatal Attraction was a very good movie.
